Xanthotype Moth - Xanthotype

Xanthotype Moth - Xanthotype
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
August 21, 2007
Size: Approx. 2 in. wingspan
I looked and thought I had found the same Moth again, after losing it. But, as I studied it for a few seconds longer, could tell this one had more tiny spots than the other one. I thought it was pretty nice that I had seen another one just a few feet away from the one I had just seen moments ago. Little did I know.... they eventually saw each other, too!

From the behavior exhibited by this specimen, I'd guess that it was the male.

I now believe this to be a Xanthotype attenuaria.
