Dark stripe along back ... Platypedia?
I suspect this is a Platypedia Molt.
The longitudinal "Dark Stripe" running along the dorsum is suggestive of this Genus- Did the dark stripe run along the abdomen as well?. Was the molt =/< 1 inch?

Yes, Bill, it was very small.
Yes, Bill, it was very small. My friend who lives in the area called these cicadas 'clickers.' I heard them everywhere and I saw a few adults and tried to photograph them, but they were jumpy, but definitely small.

"Clickers" is correct - they do not make the sounds typical of other cicada groups.
