Feltia subgothica and F. tricosa - Feltia

Feltia subgothica and F. tricosa - Feltia
This is a small series of two easily confused Feltia species. These specimens were collected in Ohio, New York, Mississippi, and Arkansas and are deposited in the Mississippi Entomological Museum (MEM) in Starkville, Mississippi.

tricosa (left) averages slightly larger and darker than subgothica (right). The hindwing also tends to be more uniform in tricosa and distinctly bicolored in subgothica.
