Tiny Coccinellid - Blaisdelliana sexualis

Tiny Coccinellid - Blaisdelliana sexualis
Hot Springs Flat, Churchill County, Nevada, USA
August 28, 2015
Size: 1.7 mm
Pitfall traps in basically an alkali flat
Placed 20-IV-2015; retrieved 28-VIII-2015 (couldn't figure out how to capture this in the date field above)

This keys out to Blaisdelliana in American Beetles, but I cannot find any images on the internet for comparison.

Based upon the following (which I have tried to show in the photos):
dorsal surface pubescent
distal palpomere narrowly securiform
eyes sparsely pubescent, rounded
prosternum not broadly rounded
eye canthus essentially obsolete
antennae less than 2/3 width of head
terminal antennomere tapered
prosternal intercoxal process narrow
abdomen apparently with 6 visible ventrites
head and mouthparts not directed postero-ventrad
basal antennomeres not greatly enlarged
setae on terminal antennomeres short, club symetrical
post coxal lines recurved

Even with the crappy pix I hope someone can correct or confirm.

I don't see any reason to doubt this placement
It also looks to have the produced anterolateral clypeal angles indicated by Gordon 1985. Great find. What are all these odd Hyperaspines doing on the ground, I wonder...Hyperaspidius has also only been collected from pitfall traps.

Moved from Lady Beetles.

splendid -- thanks, colleagues

I suspect it was much hairier in life
Not the "extensive pubescence" that we expected, but still pubescence nonetheless.
