Chlaenius simillimus

Chlaenius simillimus
Napa County, California, USA
First image of C. simillimus for bugguide. Bell states it is known from only a few specimens in the lower Sacramento River Valley of California. Similar to C. glaucus, but the labrum is truncate (vs. emarginate) and basal pronotal width slightly narrower.

The glaucus species group has a green pronotum that contrasts against the blue elytra (as does the nemouralis group). The proepisterna in the glacusu group is weakly punctate (vs. densely punctate in the nemouralis group).
