Larvae, pupae, adults - Pytho niger

Larvae, pupae, adults - Pytho niger
Jefferson Notch, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
May 26, 2007
This is the underside of the bottom piece of bark in the rearing container. It shows pockets that were made by the larvae as they got ready to pupate. Even when no larvae are found, presence of Pytho in the area is often betrayed by chambers such as these. There were five adults in these fortified cubicles when I turned the bark chunk over. Two can be seen here.
