Teneral duryi?
Looks to be a teneral H. duryi. I recently reviewed some images from W. OK, & among the pic's were several images of duryi incl. tenerals.
The tenerals had green wing veins and dark eyes.

Were there many cicadas in this area and if so, were they among pines?

 
Bill...yes, ponderosa pines a
Bill...yes, ponderosa pines along with oak and juniper. Yes, they appeared to be just starting the season. This one was probably teneral since it didn't move and was pretty conspicuous sitting on top of a granite boulder in the shade.
