Bee mimic fly - Laphria thoracica

Bee mimic fly - Laphria thoracica
Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 22, 2017
Size: About 2.5 cm
First time I have ever observed a fly that so much resembles a bumble bee. Has been present in garden since 6/18/17. Was unable to get photo until today. Very noticeable when it takes flight due to large size. Not sure what type of fly this is. Photos taken at about 4:00 pm (EDT) while fly was resting on potted Shrimp plant (Justicia brandegeeana) and Trumpet honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens).

I think
this is a yellow form Laphria thoracica. Quite a handsome one.
