Beetle - Retocomus constrictus

Beetle - Retocomus constrictus
Augustine Staging Area, Limestone Canyon, Orange County, California, USA
June 24, 2017
Not entirely sure about this one. In structure it is like Anthicidae but it's way larger than those. So my best guess is either a family I've never seen before, or some strange Meloidae relative.

Moved
Moved from Retocomus.

Retocomus constrictus
most likely based on locality and thin median white line extending from mesoscutellum onto head vertex.

Moved
Moved from Eurygeniinae.

Retocomus sp.
is most likely. Elytral setae look long.

Moved, family is right :)
Moved from ID Request.

Right!
I was just coming back to move him here:

But that's probably optimistic.

This guy is giant for an Anthricid.
