Neohermes concolor ??? - Neohermes concolor
Poverty Island, Harford County, Maryland, USA
June 24, 2017
Size: Not recorded :(
Attracted to MV lamp / blacklight on margin of 90-year-old hardwood forest dominated by tulip poplar, sweetgum and red maple. Approx 75F, humid, no wind. This fishfly flew onto our sheet and to the naked eye, it seemed to be about the right size for a Chauliodes. I checked the one photo that I took the next day, and saw the hairy, beaded antennae. Now I wish that I had taken many more photos. Not sure what the white spot is between the eyes -- nothing like it in any other fishfly photos in BG. Perhaps a mite?
