Sand-loving Scarab? - Parochodaeus pectoralis
Organ Mts. foothills, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, USA
August 6, 2006
Size: about 6.8 mm
Going through my small, unphotographed scarabs from last year's collecting/photography trip to southern New Mexico I find I have several apparent species of bristly, prognathous scaraboids. This one and several like it were way larger than my prior posting identified as Ochode*idae. I don't see the all-important metatibial spines (is the metatibia on the hind leg, which stems from the metathorax?), so perhaps Phillip will inform me this is something else.
