I added one more shot. They were challenging to photograph because they were above me and moving around the trunk of this Palo Verde tree very quickly and were not very keen on standing still. :)

thanks, that added shot is much more comfortable
'challenging to photograph' --ha! tell me about it... they are among the most hyperactive beetles, esp. on sunny days; i have no clue how people manage to take live pics of them at all, must be an ordeal

hope the experts are able to narrow it down further

Chrysobothris is well above my pay grade
...to put it mildly --and i've never been much into bups anyway [lovely bugs though, no question about it]

a number of bup experts are active on BG, hope you get a name soon -- this skinny bup looks rather distinctive to my lay eye
