Silver-spotted Tiger Moth, Lophocampa argentite. Many of these congregated at night on and next to screen door of lighted porch.

Lophocampa
Lophocampa argentata isn't found in Massachusetts. This is Lophocampa caryae.

Lophocampa argentata v. Lophocampa caryea.
I yield to your identification — it is definitely L. caryae. Thanks for the correction. Does "silver-spotted tiger moth" still apply, or does it have some other common name?
