Polyphylla decemlineata ? - Polyphylla decemlineata

Polyphylla decemlineata ? - Polyphylla decemlineata
Aromas, San Benito County, California, USA
August 24, 2007
Size: about 25 mm
I set up my black light last night, for the first time since I took entomology in 1968. This guy was one of the first to show up. I'm reasonably sure it is Polyphylla decemlineata, based on photos on BugGuide and on (1), (2), & (3); but (3) also mentions P. crinita & P. nigra as possibilities.

P. decemlineata
right now, its the dumping ground for all the western sp. like this - some are almost certainly wrong, but from a photo it's tough to say one way or another for most.
