Asilid - Taracticus octopunctatus - female

Asilid - Taracticus octopunctatus - Female
Pleasant Valley Conservancy SNA, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
July 2, 2017
She was flying very low at the edge of the mowed path, right next to the edge of the prairie vegetation. She stopped in this small bare spot of soil and oviposited. I got some shots before she took off. I saw another female (maybe same one) on the other side of the path doing the same thing. I tried to get more magnified shots of that one but unfortunately disturbed her before getting any shots.
