Springtail mass - Hymenaphorura cocklei

Springtail mass - Hymenaphorura cocklei
Tiltill Valley-Wilma Lake trail, Yosemite NP, Tuolumne County, California, USA
June 29, 2017
Masses of bright yellow springtails along the trail in puddles formed by melting snow. Also a green variety forming separate clumps - when placed next to each other, the color difference was striking, with the green springtails being easily mistakable for duckweed.

Very cool
Thanks for the ID, Frans! Moved from Springtails and allies.

Hymenaphorura cocklei
Famous for its mass aggregations!
