Syrphid Fly - Sphaerophoria - Female
Lacey (near Olympia), Thurston County, Washington, USA
August 24, 2007
This composite shot of the two wings of this individual shows the best views of the veins in the wings in the hope of future ID refining. Unfortunately, the right wing was at an angle in the best shot I had of it, and not quite the same size photo as the image I have of the left wing, but if you look closely at both, you can see that the veins and ?panes? in the two wings are remarkably close to being identical. Actually, that probably isn't that remarkable to the experienced entomologist or dipterologist, but I thought it was cool! :)

Nice additions
Clever idea with the wings
Excellent series!

Thanks
If it is an excellent series, it's all your fault! You *do* realize that, don't you? Anyway, thanks for the info, help, and critique.

I always get blamed!
And sometimes I love it. You're entirely welcome, Kevin.
