Firefly - Photinus - male

Firefly - Photinus - Male
Nassau County, New York, USA
June 28, 2017
This individual was acting strange. All the other males were flying around emitting light while this one individual was sitting on the fence while emitting light. I thought at first it was possibly a Photuris female luring in the abundant Photinus males flying around, but looking at the photos it looks like a Photinus male. Does resting on an object while flashing instead of flying mean it's a different species from the other Photinus flying around? The flash pattern was one 1sec flash after a considerable period of darkness
