They took over Tucson this August - appearing by the hundreds wherever there was anything fermenting.

They are excellent flyers.
As kids, my oldest sister and I tied threads to a hind leg, tossed them into the air, and let them fly in circles on a tether like an old style model airplane (before remote control). Untied, they flew off in search of ripe fruit.
