On Horse Nettle. How about a False Potato Beetle?

Moved
Moved from Leaf Beetles.

white larva
Horse nettle eh? That is the only host for Leptinotarsa juncta and since the larva is so pale I am inclined to state that is the species and not the Colorado potato beetle, L. decemilineata.

Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Rich,
Would you be willing to try raising it? Just keep it in a well-ventilated container and give it fresh horse nettle, maybe a spig in water with aluminumfoil wrapped around stem so larva doesn't fall into water. You're likely correct on the ID but this way, if successful, we'll know for sure what it is.

Hi Jim - I didn't collect it
Hi Jim - I didn't collect it back on the 17th, so it would be hard to go back to that site. There was only one individual present that I could see. Anyway, thanks for the rearing technique. Rich
