Unknown caterpillar - Estigmene acrea

Unknown caterpillar - Estigmene acrea
Claude Moore Park, Loudon County, Virginia, USA
July 9, 2017
Size: 1 1/2 inches
This caterpillar was on a common milkweed plant and appeared to be feeding. I am only aware of
the monarch and tussock moth caterpillars feeding on milkweed. Appreciate ID and any info if in fact
this species feeds on milkweed - possible it simply won't survive, but it was good sized and looked healthy.

Salt Marsh Moth cat…
See reference here.

Thanks very much
for the instant response. I see where that species does feed on milkweed.
