I thought I was on solid ground based on earlier IDs:

But I should've known better than to make unwarranted assumptions. :)

The differences are not obvio
The differences are not obvious at first sight. I have a paper in press, to appear this year, where I revise the North American Elonus species, and describe E. gruberi as a new species.
On your photo, the separate orange elytral patches are a giveaway. There are additional characters, more difficult to see here.

A new species...
That makes me feel better—especially when I see that mine is not the only image being moved. :)
