Katydid nymph

Katydid nymph
San Jose/Alum Rock Park, Santa Clara County, California, USA
March 31, 2005
Size: Body smaller than a dime.
Quite possibly a California Katydid (Microcentrum californicum) nymph–although it was at eye level on this plant growing from a rock face despite plenty of nearby oaks for it to feed on.

Moved
Moved from Round-headed Katydids.
Amblycorypha aren't found in CA; this looks more like Microcentrum to me...

Moved

Probably.
The only other obvious possibility is the fork-tailed bush katydid, Scudderia furcata, but in that genus, individuals are very lanky, with legs much longer than the nymph in this image.
