In the campground the forest service had just cut down and sliced some large spruce or fir for future firewood and had it piled. You could smell the resin from across the campground. It was a beetle magnet. We were smashed into by beetles as they flew in to the piles from every direction!
Thought there was one more beetle species that day. This beauty was the last we found before we had to head back down the mountain
