These are on my grapevine, on weeds and on a blackberry bush. They seem to appear out of nowhere with all this white fiber fluff around them. I have a lot of images that seem to show them developing out this fluff, as if it some kind of cocoon. I check my vine often and have yet to find an earlier stage from which these fibrous structures develop. For scale, the critter is about a quarter-inch long.
