A real mystery for me - too bad they died before I had a chance to photograph or try and rear them up. I swept them in the same area where I found several adult tetrigids, so at first was thinking that's what they were. Then I started to wonder about very tiny Arphia xanthoptera nymphs. Unfortunately they are just way too tiny to run through any keys. Don't know when I'll be getting back to Presque Isle, so this may have to remain a mystery.

The are Tetrigid nymphs
They may or may not be the same species as the adults you saw, but that might be a good place to start. These are so young, that I'm not even certain which genus they are in, though a view from the top, showing the top of the head, might help on that count. My first gut reaction was Neotettix, but I'm not sure if you could even find this genus in that area. Based on coloring, surface texture, and a few other details (that may not even be important), perhaps Tettigidea is more likely (?).
