Male Black Witch Moth - Ascalapha odorata - Male
Heber, Wasatch County, Utah, USA
July 17, 2017
Size: about 6.5" wingspan
This big guy flew into my cabin today. He's been napping on the logs all day and I'm hoping he makes it out when he gets up tonight. I wasn't familiar with this type of large moth (thankful for google) and he fluttered around so much at first I wasn't sure if he was a bat or a bird. I don't know if it's of any consequence but my cabin is just shy of 7000' elevation.
