Argiope Aurantia - Argiope aurantia - female

Argiope Aurantia - Argiope aurantia - Female
York County, South Carolina, USA
August 27, 2007
This looks like a Neoscona, but I'm just not sure. I was taking my dog for a walk through a field and this spider actually crawled on my arm and then back on a weed. This spider is huge for our area! I was impressed with the color and markings.

Argiope
That X-shaped stance is pretty distinctive. Take a look at the Argiope images while we wait for a more specific ID. It should be pretty easy for anyone who knows the genus (I don't).

Yes, female
Argiope aurantia

Spider
Thank you so much for your help!!! I was looking in the wrong category!
