Laphria coquillettii - Female
Gabrielino Trail, above Switzer, elev. 1067 m (~ 3,500 ft.), San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, Los Angeles County, California, USA
July 14, 2017
Discovered, and photographed by my friend Kyra Saegusa. I was very excited to see Kyra's photos, looked through McAtee's paper (1), thought Laphria coquillettii to fit. Also checked with Eric Fisher who confirmed the ID.
Because the location is the area where both allotype and paratype males were found, this is a fortuitous confirmation the species still flies there.
Prey looks like one of the Raphidioptera.
