Metzneria lappella? - Metzneria lappella

Metzneria lappella? - Metzneria lappella
Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska, USA
July 7, 2017
Size: 7 mm
Came to lantern. Kind of looks like Metzneria lappella (#1685)?

Moved, Metzneria lappella
Moved from Twirler Moths and kin. For some reason, the image appears sideways on my phone. The thumbnail looks normal, and the last time I saw this image, in August, it looked normal. I don’t know why this sometimes happens, and I’m not sure if this is the case on all devices. Fortunately, since your image is (I think) square, it is not distorted, just rotated 90°. Rectangular images wind up stretched in one direction when this happens, causing severe distortion. I wonder if editing and resubmitting the image would fix this. I tried this with someone’s image a few weeks ago, and it didn’t help.

Yes, it's square
I try to come as close as possible to a square when cropping. I think it was originally taken sideways with the camera and then rotated and saved as it is. It shows up fine here for now. I'm not sure editing it will fix it, as this was done to get it in this position, with the head up, in the first place. Let me know if any others I have submitted do this, as many of them have been rotated as well. It is quite a mystery...

I don’t think I’ve noticed
For any other of yours, and it only happens very rarely. I don’t understand why it happens. It looks fine on my computer.
