Not a globular springtail! - Cerobasis guestfalica

Not a globular springtail! - Cerobasis guestfalica
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
July 27, 2017
I've not come across this one before!

Moved

The anchor on the vertex
says this is Cerobasis guestfalica (Trogiidae). Nice shot.

Wow, I'm glad you weren't thrown of track...
...by my guess. There are just a few more higher than 1:1 shots pending, as I have lost interest in trying to bridge the gap between my lenses and the MPE-65. Though one can't help but try to take the occasional look into the world of the smallest!

yeah, neat thing but nothing springtaily about it
compound eyes and most every other detail here rule out that option

Moved from ID Request.

...I see your point about not being springtaily!
I was playing with some low budget attempt to go beyond 1:1 magnification, and was so pleased with my limited success in that regard that I was more interested in the magnification than the photo.

Worse still I was about to go much further with even cheaper junk! But what is the point if I don't even stop to look at the result!

I just see what I want to see, I guess.

Still it interested you enough to...
...I'll have to send you an email, hopefully you will have a chance to look at it!

Excellent Photo
Arthur, I don't recognize. Perhaps a barklouse nymph?
