Bright orange moth - Virbia aurantiaca

Bright orange moth - Virbia aurantiaca
Great Falls, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
August 30, 2007
Size: <1"
I saw several of these flitting about, always flying away from me and then tucking themselves under a leaf or something before I got near enough so I couldn't find them. Except this one - spotted him. Sorry the detail isn't so great - I only had my point-and-shoot. But I thought maybe someone would know what such a bright orange moth is?

Probably 8121 -- Orange Holomelina Moth -- Holomelina aurantiaca
B.P.

That looks like
a match to me - thanks!
