Moth - Anarta nigrolunata

Found mating along trail near Spectacle lake. When I closed in to examine one flew off. Have no idea what kind of moth this might be. Any ideas anyone?

Looks like Anarta nigrolunata
Fairly common day-flying noctuid in alpine/subalpine areas.
Any chance you got a shot of an underwing?

Underwing
This is all I got. But thank you for the ID. I've been trying to figure this one out for a long time.

Hello again.
Okay, I will let you know if I plan to post an image based on one of your ID's (such as this one which looks right as far as I can tell). That way you can tell me to hold off if you think I should -
Thanks again for your help-

British Columbia
Just read your bio that you are from BC. Most of my photos are from Washington so I'm looking forward to looking thru your photo collection to help me ID. I also made great use of John Davis' moth collection.

Yes,
I also use John's photos a lot. We get many of the same species here and I find it's really fast to skim through his collection on the Moth Photographer's Group if I find something new. Dick Wilson's photos are also great - he's from Willapa Bay.

The Pacific Northwest Moth site is also excellent, if you have a rough idea of what you have. Not complete yet - still doesn't do geometrids or micros, but terrific detail on noctuids, sphinxes etc. & suggestions on similar species.

Thanks
I've already ID'd two Syrphidae based on your photos. Awesome.

Glad it helped, but
I'd be inclined to post Syrphids on BG and let some of the fly people take a look. Some of them are pretty tough to tell apart.
