Nitidulidae - Amartus tinctus

Nitidulidae - Amartus tinctus
Santa Rosa Plateau, Riverside County, California, USA
April 2, 2017
Sap beetle from California poppy.

well, kinda...

Aha
Yep, I'm still ill-prepared for Kateretidae...

If this is Amartus tinctus, these two can't be?

Quite a size difference...and look at the pronotum and narrower body. The fact that both of those were on elderberry flowers also raises an interesting thought. The one I found here on this page was nowhere near that plant, it was on CA poppy like the others on guide.
