This is a nice beetle. Cedar Creek has a photo identified as this species which has all of its spots orange. I wonder if this is actual variation, or if the spots on the dead specimen change colour.

Do you have any suggestions for a common name? All of the other lady beetles have them, so it would be nice to have one for this one as well. Words by William Whitaker has some translations of proba (I'm assuming the word is Latin rather than Greek), the best of which I think is "esteemed" - should we call this the Esteemed Lady Beetle?

if there isn't any common name yet, that name makes sense. It is interesting that the spot color is different in this one from the Cedar Creek photo. I can't explain it, must be variation. Thanks for all the research Joel.
