Picture-winged fly - Euxesta? - Euxesta notata - Female
Spring Green Preserve SNA, Sauk County, Wisconsin, USA
August 31, 2007
Size: ~ .25 in.
This fly is relatively common at the preserve. I see it regularly on wooden surfaces (fence posts, a bench, a sign), on fresh scat, on rotting prickly pear fruits, and on rotting fungus.
