I think I have the genus right here. I came back from hours of insect photography to find this fellow on my pickup truck. Its portrait was my last photo of the day.

approximata
If this is a Pseudotephritis it is P. approximata based on the large apical spot (crossing R2+3) and small spot in the costal cell.

One trip I spent an hour or two looking for insects and finding nothing but mosquitoes. When I returned to my car a rare fungus gnat was waiting on the door.
