Dryopid beetle - Helichus lithophilus

Dryopid beetle - Helichus lithophilus
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
August 24, 2007
Size: about 4.4 mm
In response to Brad's question about antennae I decided to have another shoot with this beetle. Here the specimen is dead and still wet from alcohol. Finally I can see some punctures in the elytra. The tissues are somewhat bloated, forcing the head out beyond its normal position tucked under the edge of the pronotum.
