tree cricket Oecanthus sp.? - Oecanthus latipennis - Male
Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois, USA

Found this tree cricket resting on the top of a fireweed plant in a planted landscape prairie. This male's legs lacked any black coloration so I'm hoping I can get confirmation down to species level.

Yes, I agree with Oecanthus latipennis
Handsome male. Your picture very nicely shows the raspberry color on the top of the head and the proximal portions of the antennae.

The wide wings are captured nicely as well. Interesting that there are darker areas on the wings. This aspect can also be seen in other wide winged species.
