A big dragonfly - Aeshna tuberculifera

A big dragonfly - Aeshna tuberculifera
Boothbay - The Coastal Maine Botanic GArden, Maine, USA
August 7, 2017
Size: Big.
This one is large, and has white markings on it sides... It looks like it might be laying an egg but would the egg be in pairs or is it forked or is it just going to the bathroom?

Female Aeshna tuberculifera?
This is a female Aeshna darner laying eggs. For those, you need a good look at the front thoracic stripe to ID. This one doesn't have a notch and also doesn't appear to have a tail on the top so I believe that it is Black-tipped. A little closer look (cropped tighter) would help. The forked appendages that you see at the end of the abdomen are her cerci and are not eggs.
