Wood borer? - Buprestis lyrata

Wood borer? - Buprestis lyrata
Mountain View County, Alberta, Canada
August 9, 2017
Size: ~0.5 inch
I was working inside on my computer when this lovely beetle crawled off my shirt and onto my arm. We live in a mixed forest (white spruce/aspen/balsam poplar) so I assume it landed on me somewhere out there. I released it outside and took the photos on our deck. I think it's one of the metallic wood-borers (a buprestid). According to John Acorn's book "Bugs of Alberta" we have about 60 species. It has a beautiful metallic oil-on-water sheen to it.
