Unidentified Larvae -
Calligrapha serpentina
Hueco Tanks State Park and Historic Site, El Paso County, Texas, USA
August 8, 2017
Size: ~ ½ inch
We found these on the underside of leaves of gray globemallow (Sphaeralcea incana). I'm guessing these are some type of beetle.

Susan, my name is John Watts
Susan, my name is John Watts and I work at Texas Discovery Gardens in Dallas, TX. I’m doing a talk at the IECC conference in Tucson this July on the chrysomelid beetles of the Sonoran Desert and their roles in the ecosystem. I would like to use your image of the larvae of Calligrapha serpentina if possible. I would of course credit you in the photograph credits. Thank you for your consideration.

Susan, thank you for your per
Susan, thank you for your permission to use your picture. I've been participating at this conference for 30 years and most attendees know of my obsession with chrysomelids and their role in the ecosystem. I figured it was time to teach them of the diversity in the area. I'm excited to be doing this talk and certain that your picture will generate lots of oohs and aahs from the participants. Thanks again.
