Ant-Like Flower Beetle? - Vacusus vicinus

Ant-Like Flower Beetle? - Vacusus vicinus
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
May 18, 2017
This looks like one to me, but it doesn't visually match anything I could find...

thanks again, Don
Moved from Anthicinae.

Vacusus vicinus
A fair amount of color pattern variation in this species of Vacusus, while confinis is always solid black, and not in the eastern states.

Vacusus confinis looks like a decent match to me
pls wait for Dr Chandler

Moved from ID Request.

You know,
I was originally leaning that way, but not having much experience with this particular beetle put me squarely on the side of caution...
