The Brazilian peppertree seed chalcid was accidentally introduced into Florida in 1988, having been reared from the drupes of Brazilian peppertree collected in Palm Beach county. The distribution now includes Florida, Hawaii, and California.
Megastigmus transvaalensis
(Hussey 1956) is an obligate seed-feeding chalcid wasp that feeds on various species belonging to species of
Rhus
and
Schinus
in the
Anacardiaceae
. Will ask Dr. Grissell to confirm.
