Can't see the striping very well,
but with that short bright yellow spiracular stripe on the thorax and that hump on the end of the abdomen, we would have suggested Amphipyra

I agree - this must be Amphipyra. I thought that the broken spiracular stripe was an anomaly, and I completely MISSED seeing the humped A8! Thanks for noticing my error and pointing me in the right direction. I'm inclined to frass these photos - would you agree?

That's up to you
John VanDyk still says there is no reason to frass an image that is good. He says BugGuide 2.0 will have a way to sort images so the best can be used as an online field guide while the others can be used as an online museum collection
