Eulithosia composita? - Eulithosia composita

Eulithosia composita? - Eulithosia composita
Salero Ranch, E of Tubac, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
August 13, 2017
The best match I can make is Eulithosia composita.

Looks good to me
From the specimens I've seen, composita has a variably colored fringe. There's one on BOLD with a paler fringe -- I think. It's a little hard to see: http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/Public_RecordView?processid=RDNMK171-11

We also have some in our collection with a pale fringe.

There is a complex of Chrysoecia thoracica in Mexico with some members that are reminiscent of E. composita. I thought maybe you had caught a vagrant one of those, but they are far less orange in overall color.

E. composita
Thank you for taking a look, Kevin!

Moved tentatively, but the fringe color bothers me
Moved from Owlet Moths.

Fringe
Yes, I noticed that too but didn’t know if it could be variable.
