Beelzebub Bee-eater - Mallophora leschenaulti - Mallophora leschenaulti

Beelzebub Bee-eater - Mallophora leschenaulti - Mallophora leschenaulti
Garden Ridge/San Antonio, Comal County, Texas, USA
September 2, 2007
I think this Mallophora is a male? Please compare to the separate Mallophora leschenaulti submitted today which I think was a female. I believe this prey to be the paper wasp, Polistes exclamens.

Indeed
And this is the first male I believe I have ever seen. Not sure I knew they were over in San Antonia too. It was thought they came in on a hurricane in the past, which seemed odd. It is more likely they started in TX after some compost was hauled in for some pig pens in TX.
