Skimmer rests in Sunshine - Plathemis lydia

Skimmer rests in Sunshine - Plathemis lydia
Tracys Landing, Anne Arundel County, Maryland, USA
August 16, 2017
This skimmer was resting in some pine litter in the late afternoon sunshine in our backyard. The wings look like a male Plathemis lydia - Common Whitetail, but the body looks more like a Libellula pulchella - Twelve-spotted Skimmer.
