Plinthocoelium suaveolens

Plinthocoelium suaveolens
Miller Spring, Peloncillo Mountains, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
July 28, 2007
Size: Large, body length c. 2"
I think this is a plinthocoelium longhorn beetle. Not sure what species though. A spectacular bug.

Moved from Bumelia Borer.

This should be...
...subspecies plicatum.

As an example of how easy it is to overestimate the size of insects, the size stated for this individual is around twice the actual size range for the species.

Thanks
I do have problems estimating size. I'll change it.

Moved from Plinthocoelium.

It's even sitting on its host plant!
