Thanks
I appreciate the ID Andy. I haven’t been on here in so long and I have many insect pictures to contribute. I’m excited to rejoin the BG community. Is there some way I can contribute to server upkeep monetarily? Who do I contact for such things.

Thanks, Andy !
looks better now.

Male bee fly,
probably an Aphoebantus ; I'll try to look at it again when I have time.

I agree...
And since the only record on BG is in CA I may consider moving it to said page instead of frassing it.

Did you check the wing veins?
That's important with bee flies. Nice find!

I'd say keep it, too. Fly may be a bit fuzzy, but wings are clear.

Venation...
looks nearly identical to me. I only see one very slight difference in ScP2 or RA1+2. I'm not sure what the name of the vein is exactly. I'm trying to get at the one that is immediately forward of the most posterior cell.

I felt my comment was in vain
after seeing your rob*ber fly shot. You know this stuff far better than I do. (I just gawk and compare.)

You're far too modest Ron
I just read many books and retain information. I don't think this is in anyway superior to your or anyone else's knowledge.

Is that a pun on gnu awk and cmp from the unix world?

Yep, a pun.
Almost spelled it vane, before realizing there were three in all.
